Blue Pine Woodworks was created in 2007 in Denver, Colorado, operating as King Company Woodworks. Interestingly enough, we weren’t doing much woodworking then, but rather starting out with a mission to fix and flip houses. After a touch of both success and failure, owner Andrew King decided to take the business in a new direction. It all started when a friend commissioned him to build a set of two Chinese stools, and she wanted them made with Beetle Kill Pine from Colorado’s Rocky Mountains.

After some research and a prototype, the two stools were completed and sold to their owner. That was just the spark of inspiration we needed and soon after, the company became Blue Pine Woodworks and began building custom products for the restaurant, bar, and hospitality industry. We found a niche in creating locally made, environmentally friendly products and began searching for ways to raise public awareness of the Beetle Kill issue and the devastating effect on our forests.

We feel it is important to understand the impact and extent of the pine beetle epidemic in Colorado and to create and encourage a market for the products which would otherwise become wasted, dead trees. Please follow this beetle kill pine link to learn more.
